Structure
There are currently two classes in F2: Lavender Class and Bluebell Class. Both classes share our Outdoor Classroom. All areas of learning are taught within classes and the children are encouraged to learn through play and experience.
Please have a look at our class pages to find out more about our curriculum.
Topic Overviews - this class page will have our Long Term and Termly Overviews where you can see the topics we will be covering and any enrichment activities.
Useful Information for Parents - this class page has information for parents regarding the EYFS curriculum, phonics and handwriting. As well as educational songs we use in F2 to teach the children numbers, shapes, letter sounds etc.
Homework in F2
Whilst homework is not compulsory in F2, we would encourage you to support your child in completing any homework sent home. This usually consists of a Reading book, Phonics/Literacy activity and a Maths activity. Reading books will be sent home in homework bags after half term. Any other activities will be emailed to you on our weekly 'Ask Me About' newsletter. Children will read their reading book in school over a 2 week period, after this reading books will be sent home along with a reading record for you to complete. Within their reading record will be teacher comments in order for you to see their progress in school. Reading bags will be sent home every other Friday and parents can keep the childrens books for a week. Once read at home please return to school and your childs new reading book will be sent home. Sometimes children may be asked to complete a 'research task' related to a current topic e.g. going to the library to find out information about dinosaurs. Completed homework and reading books should be sent back into school on Monday.
Read All About It!
This year in F2 we have our very own 'Read All About It' display, children will have the opportinity to share things they have learnt at home e.g. this could be newspaper clippings, leaflets from trips, tickets from outings children are very welcome to bring these in and talk about them during our sharing news carpet session on a Monday.
Phonics and Handwriting
At Greenleas we use the Little Wandle Programme to teach Phonics.
Please see our 'Useful Information for Parents' class page for support with phonics and handwriting.
