Homework in Years 3 and 4
As we support the development of key skills and knowledge, we encourage you to help your child complete any homework sent home. The homework is designed to consolidate the objectives taught during the week in your child's lessons.

Weekly Homework
Homework will be issued weekly for Maths and Spelling. Maths homework will be set on Purple Mash every Friday, and Spellings will be sent home on a Monday. Children will also continue to have access to TT Rockstars to practice their times tables and Spelling Frame, which supports the development of spelling rules and strategies taught in school.

Reading

In Years 3 and 4, we focus on developing a love of reading while improving fluency and comprehension. Your child will bring home a reading book every Friday, which should be returned to school on Tuesday. Please ensure you read with your child and record their reading in their reading record. Children also opportunities in school to read with their class teacher or teaching assistant.

We ask that you encourage your child to read at least three times a week at home. While many children in Years 3 and 4 begin reading more independently, listening to them read aloud or discussing their book is a great way to share their progress and foster a love of reading.

Spellings
We use Spelling Frame in school to teach and reinforce a variety of spelling rules and strategies. This platform allows pupils to explore different methods for learning new words and practice applying them in context.

Class Dojo
We use Class Dojo to share important updates, celebrate your child’s achievements, and communicate directly with parents and carers. If you haven’t already connected to Class Dojo, please contact your child’s teacher for an invitation code so you can join our class. This is a great way to stay informed and involved in your child’s learning journey.

If you have any questions or need further guidance, please don’t hesitate to speak to your child’s teachers.
