I currently work as a Year 3 teacher in a primary school in Liverpool. I have been employed at this school for 7 years and during this time I have worked in a range of different year groups. I am the English leader, which requires me to oversee the curriculum for children from nursery to year 6. I also lead the system our school use for behaviour and rewards. I am a middle leader within the school and currently lead the KS2 department. |
Governance Experience |
I have been a governor at Greenleas Primary School since 2014. Throughout my time as a school governor, I have been part of many committees such as; finance, health and safety, resources, and curriculum. I began as a co-opted governor within the school and after a couple of months, I was asked to be chair of the finance committee. Within a few years, I stepped up to vice chair of the governing board and since September 2018, I have been chair of governors at the school. I have completed my MA in Educational Leadership and feel that my skills and knowledge will benefit Greenleas. I understand the importance of strategic direction and contributing to effective discussions. |
Hobbies and Interests |
I have a genuine interest in education and enjoy learning about new and innovative ways to teach. I enjoy taking part in discussions with other leaders via online forums. |

Why did you become a governor? |
I became a governor to help and support the Greenleas community. I wanted to further develop my understanding of school governance. |
Business / Work |
I worked in education for too many years to mention! Originally teaching in a secondary school I then became a local authority adviser/inspector for primary and secondary schools in the London Borough of Croydon. Since returning to Wallasey I have worked as a senior lecturer in teacher training at local Universities. Summer is usually pretty busy as I am a Principal Examiner for GCSE in England and Wales. |
Governance Experience |
I served as a governor at a local secondary school for three years and have been proud to be a governor at Greenleas school for over ten years. I serve on two different SACRE’s and am a member of the steering group for Liverpool Community Spirit which supports interfaith and diversity development. |
Hobbies and Interests |
During this ‘new normal’ time I have enjoyed the fantastic scenery of the Wirral and exploring the coastline. In the ‘old normal’ time I enjoy travel and regularly return to New Zealand where my husband originates from. |

Why did you become a governor? |

Hobbies and Interests |
Prior to joining the Greenleas Family, I worked for 22 years in the travel industry for Thomson. I ventured to many different countries and love to explore the world now with my family and friends making even more memories. I love to crochet and do this every day. Spending time with my family and our pooch Dexter is very important to me and we enjoy going on family walks and exploring our local area. |

I am originally from Leigh and met my husband who is from Wallasey, whilst working in Tenerife. We moved home to Wallasey Village in 2006 and have lived here ever since. My daughter went to Greenleas and my son is still at the school and about to go into year 5. |
Why did you become a governor? |
I love my role as Teaching Assistant and I wanted to have the opportunity to learn more about the workings of the school. I was keen to make a difference, not only for children in school now, but for children in years to come. |

I studied Fine Art at University and when time allows I enjoy painting and drawing. I am also very keen, but maybe only competent, at Gardening and DIY. However, I have recently became a Grandad and all this takes second place to spending time with my grandaughter. |

Why did you become a governor? |
I believe passionately in Education being the Key to improving the Life Chances for our children, not simply in their future employability but for them to enjoy the broader world and their life experiences. Schools that serve a community should be accountable to that community. I think that the old adage that it takes the whole Village to raise a child is true and that we should all contribute what we can. |

I am currently employed in another local primary school where I have worked for 5 years. I am currently involved in setting up the new nurture provision for the next academic year. Prior to this I worked as a literacy outreach teacher and a teacher in an inclusion base for children with ASC, social and communication and behaviour difficulties where I had a responsibility for inclusion. |
